Relationship Without Reservation
Addresses the process of sharing one's authentic self in relationships, making the choice to share more and more, and reserve less and less, of oneself over time. Explores the risks and rewards of authentic relationship.
And the Truth Shall Set You Free: The Power of Truth-Telling
Explores the meaning of "truth" in everyday relationships and provides a challenging look at how problems in relationships arise from hiding or withholding parts of the truth. Identifies how truth-telling, when artfully engaged, sets oneself and others free from obstacles to healing, growth, and truly satisfying relationships.
The Heart of the Gifted Mind
Explores the nature of giftedness and its foundations in pattern-recognition. Introduces the idea that there are emotionally, intuitively, and relationally gifted individuals who present themselves in therapy, carry wounds associated with these gifts, and bring with them special needs in their healing. Integrates aspects of giftedness with spiritual development.
What Works and Doesn't Work in Treating Addictions: The Power of Truth
Explores the connection between truthfulness and sobriety. Addresses clients' willingness to make full disclosure and face the reality of who they are and the impact of their beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and actions on themselves and others.
The Power of the Present: Mindfulness in Psychotherapy
Explores the practice of psychotherapy itself as mindfulness practice. Identifies the connection between a mindful approach to therapy and concepts such as transparency, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. Explores mindfulness as a way of integrating the transpersonal elements of relationship, spirituality, into the therapy process.
Integrating Spirituality into Clinical Practice
Explores a definition of "spirituality", and invites therapists to acknowledge the importance of this dimension of themselves and their clients. Offers ways of integrating spirituality more directly into the therapeutic process while respecting both the therapist's and the client's spiritual orientations.
Working with the Mind/Body Connection: Psychology's Role in Integrative Medicine
An interactive presentation exploring research and practice in psychology that supports the mind/body connection. Identifies ways the field of psychology can more fully embrace the mind/body connection and integrate it into theory and practice. Invites therapists to look at and use mind/body interventions.
Identity, Integrity, and Intimacy
Explores our personal identity as the basis for our definition and experience of integrity. Relates our capacity for intimacy to our felt sense of integrity or disintegrity. Invites participants to explore these connections in their personal lives and identify concrete ways they can improve their experience of self-esteem and healthy intimacy.
Money Matters
Invites participants to explore their beliefs, trauma, and present day management or mis-management of financial resources. Money is one of the most problematic and least explored areas for individuals and couples. This presentation provides interactive and fun ways to explore the ways money is often used as a means of control and/or as a deterrent to intimacy.
Menopause: The Missed Diagnosis
This presentation is designed for therapists as well as anyone interested in learning why menopause is often the missed diagnosis in therapy. Symptoms related to depression, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction are often treated without recognizing or diagnosing underlying hormonal issues. Lives can be dramatically changed for the better when a complete understanding and intervention includes a diagnostic assessment of both physiological and emotional issues.
